Preserving Seeds From Butternut Squash

I would like to use the seeds from a buttercup squash I grew this year for next years garden. How do I preserve these seeds?

Hardiness Zone: 8a

My grandma always let seeds dry, then she would freeze them for the following planting season. She had little tins and jars in her freezer all the time of different seeds. She also froze all her spices, straight from the store so they would keep indefinitely.

Most squash are the same. Scoop them out, clean them off as much as possible, place them on a paper towel until dry, put them in a labeled envelope and store in the fridge until spring. Good luck and good gardening. (10/19/2008)

I just keep my seeds in a cool dark place, like a closet shelf. (10/19/2008)

I wash the seeds, then allow to dry on a paper towel. After several days I store them in small glass jars and label. Store in the refrigerator or freeze. (10/22/2008)
