Re-dyeing Roots?

I dyed my hair last night with a different color than I usually use. It was a permanent dye. The roots are lighter red than the rest of my hair, and now I want to dye them with a darker demi-permanent dye to make the roots match the rest of my hair. I don't want to wait another 4 weeks to dye it, and I'm not going to a shop. Would dyeing it with a demi-permanent color mess up my hair less than using another permanent dye?

Demi permanent can be done today. If you like the color, buy the permanent version and use it next month.
