Preparing In Case Of A Storm
I live alone and I want to be prepared. I am in the process of cleaning up my very disorganized condo. I have many friends cheering me on because well this is very hard for me. Anyway I have cleaned out a walk in closet that is in the interior of the building. I am thinking it will be a nice reading nook in the winter as it is right near the dryer so it will be warm in there.

Safe Candles for Power Outages
We had a power outage last night for about an hour. Lit a bunch of candles for light, had flashlights, batteries and car battery chargers with lights. I told DH to turn off the battery powered items and just keep the candles on as we had no way of knowing how long the outage would last (power company phone number was busy).

Cleaning The Freezer After a Power Outage
How do you get rid of bad smell from a freezer. I had a vacation for six weeks, when I came back my freezer had stopped working. There was some meat in there which was rotten and I can't get rid of the smell. It smells like dead carion.

Food Lost During a Power Outage
If you have homeowners insurance, food that has to be thrown out during a power outage may be covered by your policy. Check with your insurance company to be sure.

How to Purify Water
During these so very dangerous times, I've read that it's advisable to have emergency supplies and to stock up on food and water and my family has taken this to heart. I've gotten the food part of it down, but how do I store drinking water so it'll keep safe to drink?

Mildew Smell Coming From Under Our Mobile Home After Flooding
We recently had a bad rain fall and had a little flood of about 6 inches. We live in a trailer park where many of the trailers got flooded about six inches or so. A couple days after the rain had dried up we began to smell mildew or a mold like scent.

Inexpensive Ways to Prepare for Hurricanes
We have had a couple readers write in because they are concerned about preparing for hurricane season this year. They are low income so do not have the money to go out and buy a lot. If you have any tips on how to prepare for what could be an active hurricane season, please share them.
