Looking for Homemade Wine Recipes
I would like to hear from folks that make wine and would not mind sharing their recipes on how to make different types of wine such as: apple, blackberry, strawberry, and others they would be willing to share.
Type of Container Needed for Making Apple Wine
Now that the new crop of apples is in, I want to make the apple wine from the posted in January 2011. Do the apples need to soak in a glass container? Would a plastic bucket work?
In a clean 10-gallon crock jar or plastic bottled water jar, add the sugar. Heat water to 100 degrees F then add to the sugar. Dissolve thoroughly.

This wine is best made in the summer months and left to mature for the following spring. Shred the heads of the flower petals and place them in a large pot. Cover them with 2 quarts of water on the boil.
Combine sugar and water in a pan and bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute and immediately reduce heat. Simmer for 1 hour or until thickened. Remove from heat and cool.
Steep a rosemary and dried borage leaves in one bottle of white wine for a week or more. Strain through cheese cloth or a paper coffee strainer.
Cut the apples into pieces and put them into a mincer. Mince well. Put the minced apples into a large bowl and pour 1 1/2 gallons of cold water over them.
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a whiskey sour glass, and serve drink.

I like this because it is very creamy, if you make it right. Stir the Sagatiba and amaretto in a mixing glass filled with cubed ice. Strain into a martini glass.
