Swedish Rye Bread
Set oven at 375 degrees F. Soften yeast in warm water (110 degrees F). In large bowl, combine sugar, molasses, salt and shortening. Add hot water and stir until sugar dissolves. Cool to lukewarm.

Fool-Proof Dark Rye Bread
Dissolve the yeast, in warm water, with the lard. Add the salt, rye meal, sugar and white flour. Knead together and let it rise for 2 hours. Put into 2 greased pans and let rise again.

Rye Bread
Recipe for Rye Bread. Mix first 4 ingredients. Let rise. Add remaining ingredients. Knead. Let rise. Punch down and let rise again. Form into loaf. Let rise and bake at 400 degrees F for 30 minutes. Before baking brush top with egg for a shiny crust.

Russian Black Bread Recipe
Russian Black Bread Recipe. Years ago, at a huge department store called Lazarus, in Columbus, Ohio, the bakery sold Russian Black Bread. This bread was coal black inside and out, and tasted like a very light, slightly sweet, rye bread.
