How do you can plums?
Today I bought a box of peaches. I want to can them, but can't find a good recipe. If anyone has a great recipe I would really like to try it.
My family is trying to limit their refined sugar intake, and I have been experimenting with different products. Found one that I used in making fig preserves, and it tastes just like what my Mom used to make when she used sugar.
Has anyone tried to can (water-bathed processed) watermelon? If you have, how did it turn out and did you use a sugar syrup on it or what?
It works like magic, just put them in the oven and take them out when done! Pack your fruit in jars. Add the Fruit Fresh then make your syrup. Combine sugar and water; boil to dissolve sugar. Cover your fruit with syrup.
With all of the apples ripening now, this recipe might come in handy for some of you. It sure is handy to have that pie filling ready in a pinch if you have the room to store the jars.
My sons love homemade applesauce and are always thrilled to help make it. We add nutmeg for a little kick.

This is based on a long family recipe, and I changed some of it to make it very more protected, though, it makes the best juice, and it's very easy, you just have to give it some time for the flavors to develop.

Fruit Floats to the Top When Canning
I'm canning plums by water bath method. The problem is even though I stew the plums in syrup a few minutes first and then scoop them into mason jars and top with more hot syrup after 30 minutes of the hot water bath, all the fruit floats to the top of the jar.
Does anyone have an easy, yet tasty, preserved watermelon rind recipe?
Put spices in cloth bag and boil in the water mixed with vinegar and sugar. Peel peaches and add to liquid. Cook until tender. Put in jars and pour hot syrup over and seal.
I recently canned tomatoes using the water bath method and realize now that I didn't boil them long enough, only 10 minutes. Can I put them back in the water bath and redo them. I used an old canning book that called for only 10 minutes. I did pack them hot in sterilized jars and and the lids are sealed. Help!
