$10 Dinners: Bean With Bacon Soup
By Jess StewartMaize
10-dinner.jpgThis recipe is a version of a childhood favorite of mine, Campbell's Bean with Bacon Soup. This recipe will leave you lots of leftovers and will be just as good the second day, maybe even better. My nine year old said "It was actually not too bad".

10 Quarts of Homemade Italian Chicken Soup (for less than $10)
Put all into a 12 qt pot and simmer for 2-3 hours. Use a hen, it won't break down as quick as a chicken (the meat does not come out dry or stringy) and has more flavor. Check the soup for flavor, add more salt if needed.

One Pot Beef And Veggies - $10 Dinner
I don't really know how much this costs, because we grow everything in it except for the mushroom soup. I bought a bunch of that for fifty cents a can, so I'm stocked up for the year. This is a one-pot meal that you can throw in the oven and then go read a magazine or something.

$10 Dinners: Chicken And Rice Soup
10-dinner.jpgThis recipe was created entirely with ingredients I had on hand, mostly leftovers. I had a house full of sick boys who needed chicken soup. Rather than opening up a couple of cans, I decided to throw this together.

$10 Anytime Holiday Dinner
10-dinner.jpgFirst make the stuffing. In a medium bowl, mix the bread, celery, onion, garlic, sage, marjoram, salt, and pepper. Stir in the egg and just enough hot water to moisten. Next, prepare the turkey legs. Arrange the turkey legs around the perimeter of a large baking dish and sprinkle the crushed chicken bouillon cubes over top.

$10 Dinners - Basil Tomato Salad with Grilled Chicken
10-dinner.jpgThis $10 dinner was inspired and purchased at a local farmer's market. Seasonal vegetables tend to be much cheaper directly from the source. A total of about $5.00 was spent on the veggies for this salad.

Where Can I Find The $10 Dinners?
In a recent newsletter, wasn't there a topic that was $10 meals or something like that. It was shells, sausage and something else. I was trying to copy it to my word processing program and I lost it and I had deleted the message before I was really ready to delete it.
