Using Ready Made Custard in Fruit Tarts
Has anyone ever used store-bought ready-made custard in fruit tarts, rather than making an egg custard, then placing the fruit in the pastry case and cooking? Has the constitution of the custard altered or dried out? I would love to hear back. Good baking from Australia.

Cream sugar with beaten eggs and salt. Gradually add 1 qt. milk. Put in kettle and set kettle in vessel with boiling water. Cook 25-35 minutes. Stir until it starts to thicken.
Put chips, sugar and coffee in blender. Pour in milk. Add eggs, then vanilla. Blend 1 minute. Pour in serving dish and chill. Serve with whipped cream. You may add a pinch of cinnamon instead of vanilla, if desired.

Recipe for Delicious Custard. Heat milk until bubbly. Beat eggs and add rest of ingredients. Add mixture to hot milk. Pour into a stainless steel cake pan. Bake at 475 degrees F for 3 minutes.
