Traditional German Sauerbraten
Does anyone have a recipe for traditional German sauerbraten? I am hoping for one that you have personally tried and would recommend to others. Thank you.
I love these. They are very versatile. As long as you can make the dough, you can fill it with almost any thing.
Planning an Authentic German Style Christmas
Our family has started a new tradition as of last year, choosing a specific country and doing their traditions and meals, etc. for Christmas. What a wonderful time we had with Italy.
Cut potatoes into 1 inch cubes. Cook salted water for 10 minutes, or until almost tender. Drain. Arrange in 2 qt. casserole and keep warm. In small saucepan, heat margarine.
Cut the bologna into small strips. Cut the cucumbers, onions, apples, tomatoes and carrots also into strips and mix with bologna. Cut the eggs into eights (save some for garnish).
Another favorite of my husband. Thaw dough. Brown hamburger and add onions and spices; drain. Mix with cabbage or sauerkraut. Roll out one loaf of dough into a 12x8 inch rectangle.
I guess you can call this an international meal. :) I really think the only thing that makes it German is the sauerkraut!
Not quite sure why I like this one so much. Could it be my German heritage? Hmmm, not sure, but it is very tasty!
Schnitzel with Ham and Caper Sauce
Brush chops with lemon juice; season with salt and pepper. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes; pat dry. Brown in hot vegetable oil in large skillet. Reduce heat; cover. Cook until done (20 to 25 minutes). Remove to warm platter.
Does any one know of any easy German Recipes? My husband is from there.
