Vanilla Bean Sugar
Get a vanilla bean. Slice it lengthwise twice so you have four very skinny strips of bean. Then cut those beans in half so you now have 8 shorter vanilla beans. Add one piece of the bean to a jug or jar of sugar.

Make Your Own Vanilla Extract
I always make my own Vanilla extract. It's much tastier and when I make in bulk, I give away the extra as Christmas gifts in bottles I get at the dollar store. Just go to the liquor store and buy a fifth of Everclear. Buy 3 vanilla beans, split them down the middle and open a bit and drop them in the bottle.

I have some Pampered Chef recipes I'd like to try but don't have any of their seasonings. One such recipe that I'd like to try calls for Southwest Seasoning Mix. Does anyone have a seasoning recipe that is comparable to theirs?
