| Cleaning a Saltwater Boat
A saltwater boat is so very difficult, and expensive, to keep clean. I was using SoftScrub to clean my bay boat, but ran out one day. I had a choice as to whether I should go to the store and buy more, or make some myself.

| Use Foam Swimming Noodles as Bumpers
A friend of ours made "bumpers" for a rowboat he had newly painted by cutting up a foam swimming noodle and stringing a pair on some nylon rope.

| Use Dental Floss to Repair a Sail
Like an old-time sailor, I took needle and thread and mended a rip in the sail of our boat. The needle was a heavy-duty one from the drug store - and the THREAD was DENTAL FLOSS. It fit through the needle and because it was WAXED, it slid easily through the sail cloth!

| Make Ahead Meals For Boating Weekends
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for what I could make a head of time (freeze, etc.) during the week to use for meals (sandwiches get boring after awhile) on the boat (so not too complicated) on the weekends?

My husband and I bought a used pontoon boat in pretty good shape except the pontoon tubes or coated with a lot of scale from being left in the water for long periods of time.

Boat Friendly Recipes. I frequently have guests over for extended (3-4 hour) boating "parties". Anyone have any suggestions for boat friendly recipes for heavy hors d'oeuvres I could take along?

| Don't Canoes Tip Easily?
By Marcia Adair

Like most things, canoes are perfectly safe if used in the manner in which they were designed. In actual fact, you have to work pretty hard to flip a canoe over because of its relatively flat bottom. Granted, if you stand up in a canoe, it is likely to turn over but then again, you're kind of asking for trouble if you do something like that.

| How to Steer a Canoe
By Marcia Adair
Steering a canoe efficiently can cause quite a bit of frustration for the novice canoeist. The best advice is to do a little as possible and when you do need to correct the course, do it with the least amount of effort. This will ensure you don't get stuck in a cycle of overcorrecting yourself.

| Can I Paddle a Canoe By Myself?
By Marcia Adair

The short answer is yes, you can paddle a canoe by yourself. It is infinitely easier to do with two people but with a few minor alterations, you should be able to have a pleasant journey.
