Pack the bowl with baking soda and add about half a shot glass of white vinegar, quickly cover bowl with thumb tightly. The vinegar and soda will react and spew out thru the pipe stem. This is how I used to refresh my pipes when I used to smoke. Another method was to wash pipe in dishwasher. Hope this helps
