Removing Double Sided Tape from Laminate Floor

How do you get double sided tape off of wood laminate floors?

My husband does floor and he uses mineral spirits or paint thinner on a rag to get it up. It takes a little scrubbing, but it can't hurt the floor. Wipe the area afterward with a wet soapy rag to get the oily parts up. If you don't have any of that stuff, you could possibly use baby oil. The oil in both will loosen the stickiness. (03/12/2008)

The mineral spirits will work. If you have baby oil on hand, read the label. It is usually mineral oil and that might work. I have pergo and the manufacturer says it's okay to use acetone to remove ink marks and things of that nature. If you have nail polish remover on hand, read the label. It's probably mostly acetone.

Lighter fluid will work too, the liquid not the propane. Do Not use these items around fire, sparks and smoking. And be sure you have good ventilation. Don't use anything abrasive like steel wool or sand paper. I'm confident you can get that off the floor! (03/13/2008)
