I'd use a stiff brush first. Remove as much as possible. Then a damp cloth to remove the rest. Let it completely dry, then use the stiff brush again to bring up the nap.

You have to use a vinegar solution of 1 part vinegar and 3 part water....or this method doesn't work.

Stiff brush first...then a solution of 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water...using a rag...wipe(or scrub) salted area..rinse..let dry thoughly...stiff brush again...follow with a water repellant spray.
