Preventing Zipper On Dooney Purse From Fading

With my purses before the zippers have faded, so I try not to zip them. This is not the most practical solution to this problem so I was just wondering if anyone had any idea on how I could find a way to keep my belongings safe and keep my purse beautiful.

Repairing A Cracked Plastic Tub

I don't know what the material is but I need to repair it until I can afford to replace the tub with a shower surround. I have duct taped it, but that is only a stop gap! Anybody got any ideas? It's kind of like a plastic type material, very cheesy!
