Repairing a Hole in Chiffon Clothes?

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to cover up a tiny hole in the chiffon overlay of a dress that I am supposed to be wearing at a wedding next week? Please help!

Oh yikes! Sewing chiffon is never easy, and patching a hole is especially difficult!

However, if there is any kind of pleating, tucking, or lace on the overlay you can do a very small pleat, tuck, or lace motif 'applique' to cover the hole. If you are handy with needle and thread you can do this yourself using the pre-existing embellishments to guide your new one.

If not handy with a needle or if you've never sewn chiffon before, try to find a sewer friend or family member to help, but be sure they have sewn chiffon before. Chiffon 'runs' (ladders if in the UK) just like a stocking or tights leg - you really need to know what you're doing to have it come out right.

If you can find a pre-made applique that will look good, you can use a bit of fabric glue to attach the applique without having to touch a needle - best solution, trust me!

Have a look in a fabric store like Michael's, JoAnn, Hancock, Fabric World, or Hobby Lobby if in the US; if you aren't in the US and have no haberdashery shops in your town or within driving/bus distance, there are good sites online but you may have to spend quite a bit to get your applique and glue to you in time.
