How do I get the machine open, even my sewing machine repair guy can't get the cover off?

This isn't your machine, but it shows how a lot of the cases on the companies machines work. Yours may be the same or at least show you more of what to look for.
Mine has screws. You will have to turn your machine around at different angles to find the screw(s) that are still holding it together.
I also had the same problem.
My machine remained idle for 10 years as I was unable to replace the belt. I got in touch with Janome 5 years ago who gave me this well intentioned but slightly misleading information. There are three screws that need to be removed one on the top of the machine, one underneath the base of the machine and one that is through the grill at the side of the machine.
