I was hoping someone had answered as I'm seeing them in my house too. I'm told there are harmless and to kill them and sweep them up but there must be something else I can do...help?
Believe me, they are NOT harmless....I have been bit several late at night in my house~it hurts like hell! My leg swelled,turned red and hot. Ever since when I see them I actually start shaking. I keep a large jar handy to catch them and dispose outside. I researched and found that essential oils (tea tree,mint,lemongrass,cedar) deter them~ they are very sensitive to scents. Hope that helps! I have a baby that is starting to walk and our apartment is in the basement. I keep seeing them everywhere down here what can i use that wont harm my son. Plez help. They are creeping me out
Oh my gosh, I just wrote about the same experience! Same thing happened to me, and I use a big plastic jar to catch them....but they are FAST little suckers huh?? Can't let them escape........they'll be back (to get~cha) I even have nightmares after I encounter one, (always in my bedroom) my cats find them first.

I am using glue boards to catch centipedes. Get them at Home Depot. Don't know how they will work with pets/children in the house. Maybe use them overnight.
