Riding Mower Won't Start?

We bought a 2005 Craftsman riding mower used. We were told it was just brought back from the Sears repair shop with a new carburetor. For a second it ran and then we would put the blades down at full throttle and it would die. We disabled the seat sensor and it would start, but not at full throttle. We looked at the carb to find out it was never changed. We cleaned it and still the same issue. We bought a new one and installed it and now it will not even run. Any clue what we are doing wrong?

The previous owner left gas in the mower and it turned to sludge. When you changed out the carburetor you also should of changed the spark plugs and fuel filter. Plus, you'll need to check the fuel pump to make sure it isn't clogged with gunk.
