Robin's Thrifty Tips: Weekly Grocery Deals

This week's grocery/department store deals are pretty good for our area. Our Hy-Vee store is having a 12 hour sale, Saturday, March 27, with some really good items. I'll have to run out and pick up some of these things. A few of the items they will have are as follows:

  • Hy-Vee brand canned vegetables are .38
  • Ragu pasta sauces (16-28oz.) are .99. These are a favorite of ours
  • Hy-Vee vanilla ice cream is $1.18
  • Fully cooked, rotisserie chickens are $3.99 each. This is another favorite of ours and something I don't ordinarily buy because they are usually so much more expensive.
  • Braeburn or Cameo apples are .69/lb. I think I've mentioned that Braeburn is my husband's favorite brand of apple.
  • Crest Toothpaste is buy one for $2.59 and get one free
  • Blue Bunny yogurt is 3/$1
  • Right Guard deodorant is .88
  • Xtra laundry detergent is 5/$10
  • Hy-Vee brand sliced bologna is .88 for a 1lb. pkg.
These are just items on sale for this price during the 12 hour sale, but these prices are so good, it would be a shame not to take advantage of some or all of them. Hy-Vee also has regularly advertised specials that are good for the whole week.

Our Fareway store also has some great deals this week. They are known for matching prices, so I'm guessing that all of the deals available at Hy-Vee will be be available at Fareway as well. This week's best deals at Fareway are as follows:

  • Fastco brand flour .77/5lb. bag
  • Cool Whip topping is .88
  • Betty Crocker cake mixes and frostings are .78
  • Dole classic salad mix is .99
  • 10lb. bag naval oranges is $5.99
  • Fastco chocolate chips are .99
  • Era laundry detergent is $2.99/50oz. bottle
  • Fastco ice cream $1.99

This week, we actually got an advertisement from our Wal-Mart store and they, too, have some good deals.

  • Bird's Eye steamfresh vegetables are $1
  • Whole fresh pineapple $2.50 each

  • Great Value brown & serve rolls are .88
  • Spiral cut hams are $1.48/lb.

These are a bunch of the deals in the Washington, Iowa area. What do the deals look like in your area?
