Robin's Thrifty Tips: Weekly Grocery Deals

It seems to be "coupon week" in our little town this week. Our Hy-Vee store has several coupons this week that are buy one, get one free starting with 4 count package Bakery fresh cinnamon rolls, Buy 2 Amana 100% Natural Beef Boneless Ribeye steaks at $5.99 each and get 2 Twice baked potatoes free, Buy 3 Coke 12 packs at 3/$12 and get one Mello Yello 12 pack can free. Mix and match Twizzlers, Whoppers or Milk Duds are buy two, get the third free. There is a great coupon for buy 5 Quaker items and get $3 off at 59oz. or larger Tropicana orange juice. Some other good coupons are for generic brand 1 gallon container of bleach for .99, Hy-Vee apple juice cocktail is .99 and Hy-Vee 6-count packs of apple sauce are .99 each.

Some good deals at Hy-Vee which do not require a coupon for the low price are as follows: Hy-Vee purified or natural spring water 24 bottle package is $2.99, Hy-Vee rice or noodles and sauce are .88/pkg. and Creamette pastas are 10/$10. For your cat, Hy-Vee has their brand cat food in 5.5oz. cans for 3/$1. Banquet frozen meals are .88 each as are bags of Hy-Vee vegetables.

Our Fareway store has some great deals, too. Fareway has 3 coupons in their ad this week. They are as follows: 8oz. pkgs. of Fastco shredded cheese are 2/$2, Dr. Pepper or 7-Up products are 3/$9 for the 12 pack cans, and a 10lb. bag of chicken hindquarters are .39/lb. I usually take advantage of this deal whenever I can. I don't mind buying 10lbs. of meat at that price! Some deals at Fareway that do not require a coupon for their good price are bananas for .29/lb., Fastco brand 2 liter pop is .49 and Fastco peanut butter is .88 for the 18oz.

jar. Fastco non-stick cooking spray is .99 and a 12oz. carton of Fastco cottage cheese is .88. Seedless green grapes are .99lb. and Dole classic salad mix is .88 bag. We are eating a lot of this these days as we are trying to watch our weight!
