I suffer from severe acne and from that acne I have several bad scars. Does anyone have any home remedies or even over the counter products that you have used to help with this?

Neutrogena or Noxema (I'm don't remember which one, but I think it's Neutrogena) makes a new mask that you peel off and it reduces acne scars. I haven't tried it yet. I can't find it at Wal-Mart. I just saw a commercial for it a few times. (02/28/2006)

Mandi, I too have really bad scarring from acne and have never had pretty skin since i was 12 years old. I have tried just about everything there is, but I saw something in a magazine that a skin doctor was doing, he said instead of sanding down the skin to remove the scarring, he was injecting collagen into the scars to build up the sunken scarred areas. He said that makes better sense than removing layers of skin. It's like you have a hole in your yard, you don't go digging up the whole yard to make the first hole the same as the whole yard, you fill in the hole to match the rest of the yard! And that doctor said it is much more affordable than the other way. So check with the skin doctors in your area and see if that might be of some help for you. I hope to have that done for me also, in the future. Good luck! (02/28/2006)

Investing in microdermabrasion from a local spa (make sure the person doing it is licensed) is well worth it. It runs you around $100 per session, and depending on the severity of the scarring, could take 2-7 sessions, but it will reduce the appearance by up to 97% (so you cant even see them when you have no makeup on), and they will never come back. Plus, it prevents any further acne by exfoliating your skin better than anything in the world. Take it from me: I'm a hairstylist and makeup artist. Good luck. (03/09/2006)

You can try Vitamin E cream - and there are also some over-the-counter remedies for scar reduction available in the drug store now. Minor scarring will eventually disappear. Major scarring may need medical help. (03/17/2006)

I don't know anything about getting scars to fade or getting rid of them all together. But I do know a makeup that will cover them and not look like you have caked it on. Try Bare Minerals or Sheer Cover. They are both a mineral make-up and work like a charm. You look natural and healthy and everything hides beautifully. Neutrogena has come out with a mineral foundation too. It is in powder form and a much less expensive then the other too. It works just the same. Powder makeup will cover them and look natural and the mineral makeup shouldn't bother your skin. Matter-of-fact it is great for break-out prone skin. (03/21/2006)

I like the Neutrogena home microdermabrasion kit and feel I got better results than a professional microderm. I feel that has helped reduce my scars. So far, the cheapest I have seen it is at Walmart. If you go to the Neutrogena website, they might offer a rebate for buying the kit. (05/17/2006)
