My New Home 691 sewing machine worked fine until I touched the tension knob and it fell off. I replaced it, but now it will not sew, ie. make stitches. Please help.

Oh dear! It sounds very much like your New Home needs to see the repair tech ASAP. The tension discs have come away inside the machine, and please trust me this is not a fix that can be done at home! Don't try to run the machine as doing so will cause more interior problems.
