Shriveled Roots on Orchid?

I got a moth orchid as a gift about 2 weeks ago and noticed that the roots did not look very healthy, they are pale green and shriveled. I did some research and found this is common in dehydrated plants. I check the soil daily and give it water accordingly. However it does not seem to be helping as the blooms have now started to fall. Is there anyway to save this plant?

These sites have have some valuable info:

We had one for almost 11 years after my dad passed (it was gifted at his funeral). Once we found the right sun, it got watered weekly, and it lived for a very long time. Sadly it became un-saveable...when we tried to re-pot it. I still feel bad and should have left well enough alone as it was lovely.

Hope this helps!

You need to water it more.
