What does it mean to skim coat?
By Anne from Albany, NY
In WI, it means applying a coat of plaster or drywall compound to sheetrock or dry wall. I love the finish, the random trowel marks give the painted walls character and interest. (08/06/2010)
Skimming means applying a thin coat of drywall compound to a wall. It can be plain or with a design. A example of this is on a ceiling. A skim coat is applied and a sponge of other tool is used to make swirls or a pop corn ceiling. (08/06/2010)
