The smoke alarm is chirping because:
- The battery is dead
- The unit is not receiving hard wired power
- The unit is dirty
- The unit is broke
Make sure the replacement battery is good, that the unit is plugged in firmly. Use canned air to blow the dirt out of it. If it keeps chirping replace it.
