The above link discusses how to quick soak pinto beans.

I always sort them, which means pouring them on a cookie sheet or on your hand, and getting rid of any rocks or clumps of dirt. This is a must when are preparing beans.

Anyway, what I do, I sort the rocks out and the clumps of dirt, then I wash the beans in a bowl, then rinse them, getting the dirt off of them.

Then, I fill the crock pot with a lot of water, and then turn it on medium or high.
If the water goes down, put more in.

When they are done, you will know by tasting one of them.

I like mine slightly firm but not really soft.

Some people will rinse them again before eating to eliminate gas, but most of the nutrients are in that liquid.
