Social Security Survivor Benefits?

My nephew was a veteran of Iraq and Afghanastan war. He served for a little over 2 years in the National Guard. He passed away at the age of 24. Other than the military, his work experience is limited. Is his son (age 2) eligible for Social Security benefits?

The mother/guardian of this child should go ASAP to their local SS office as everyday missed is lost benefits. Benefits usually only start from the date of application.

Only the SS office can tell anyone if they are eligible for benefits. If they are eligible there should be payments for the child and mother for several years.

If this ''warrior hero " was married to the child's mother, They are both eligible for survivors benefits, unless things have changed. Check also with the V.A. office near by. His service is much appreciated as well as the family's sacrifice.

Prayers offered for the family.May God Bless them. GG Vi
