Sooty Smoke from Gas Log Fireplace?

My Valor gas fireplace is side vented through the exterior wall. The vent leaves soot up the wall about ten feet. I have adjusted the oxygen feed to the gas mix - no help. I don't want to have to paint every year. How can I fix this?

There is something very wrong. Call the proper repairperson and have them do the adjustments and repairs. Gas burning fireplaces are not something to fool around with. They should burn very clean; that is the point of gas!

My husband works on gas heaters. You probably need to have the heater cleaned. Mine was sooting up some, especially noticed on ceiling and he took it apart and cleaned it real good.

Don't try this yourself, you need to call a service man.
