Total Time: 2-3 hours

Steps:

  1. Using a pinking blade cut all colors into strips (9 in. x 1 in.). Make sure that all edges are cut with the pinking blade. This will help prevent the fabric from fraying.

  3. Secure the strips onto the wreath form, by folding the strip in half, bringing the edges under the wire, then bring them over the top of the wire tucking them into the loop of the fabric, and pulling tightly to secure.
  4. attaching strips

  5. The wreath form I used only had 4 wires, so I decided to do reds on the outside wire, alternate orange and yellow on the second wire, then blues and greens on the third, and purples on the last wire. Attach all the fabric scraps in this way until you have created an arched rainbow shape on the wire form.

  7. At the ends of the rainbow, attach white scraps to create clouds.

  9. Finish filling in the wreath at the bottom with green scraps to create grass.

  11. To create the pot of gold, print out the attached template and cut out the template pieces. Using a white colored pencil, trace around the template pieces for the pot onto the back of the black felt. Cut them out and set aside. Trace the gold template onto the gold felt using a black pen. Cut out and set aside.

  13. Using a hot glue gun attach the gold piece onto the front of the black pot. Then attach the two pot accent pieces, the large one at the top, just covering the end of the gold. The smaller piece goes at the bottom. These will give the pot some dimension.

  15. Hot glue a few yellow buttons onto the gold felt, for dimension too.

  17. On the back of the pot, hot glue a short piece of wire. I chose to cut a small square of felt and glue that over the middle of the wire for added strength.

  19. Finally, attach the pot of gold, using the wire, onto the wreath. Hang it up and enjoy!

This also gives me some ideas for using the plastic and wire fan grates from old fans that have broken. Love the idea so much~:)
