I have a Swan steam iron. I have brought new filters, but the iron makes banging noises and there is no steam. I have put white vinegar in, but the iron is still making a rumbling noise.

Sounds like it is clogged. You tried vinegar, you said. Did you drain the vinegar back out to see if it had any lime or calcium build up particles in it?
Place the unplugged iron soleplate in a shallow dish of water and descaler and leave it for a while.
