I have a lot of leftover taco seasoning packets left over from when we were always cooking Mexican. I found that if I put one package of taco seasoning into 2 cups of sour cream and top with shredded cheese of any kind, it goes like hotcakes.

Tomatoes are really good on top of this too. Serve with tortilla chips, we like it warm, the cheese just slightly melted. It is a really good way to use taco seasoning packages.

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages cream cheese (8oz. size)
  • 1 qt. sour cream (16oz.)
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Directions:

Soften cream cheese, then add sour cream gradually, mixing with mixer. Add bean dip and taco seasoning and beat on low speed until well mixed. Put in casserole dish and top with cheddar cheese. Cover casserole and heat in oven at 325 degrees F. for 30-45 minutes until heated through. Serve with Doritos or Fritos.

It's fast and easy and everyone loves it!

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz. cream cheese
  • 16 oz. sour cream
  • 1 pkg. taco seasoning
  • 2 cups grated cheese
  • chips

Directions:

Let cream cheese come to room temperature. If in a hurry, you can microwave it for a few seconds to get it softer. Add sour cream and taco seasoning. Blend together. I usually use a mixer to get it all whipped together. Put in cake pan or plastic oblong container and put grated cheese on top. Serve with chips.

Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz. block of cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 can of Hormel Chili (with or without beans)
  • 1 8 oz. pkg. shredded taco flavored cheese (I use Kraft)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  1. In a large sprayed pie plate, spread the cheese evenly.
  2. Open can of chili and spread on top of cheese.
  3. Evenly spread the cheese on top.
Bake for approximately 20 minutes. Make sure the cheese is melted and the chili and cream cheese are very warm. Serve with large corn chips or tortilla chips.

Personal note: It's easy to keep these items on hand and whip up quickly for unexpected guests. Simply zap the cheese in the pie plate in the microwave until it's of spreadable consistency.

This is an unusual Southwestern dip mix that can be given in a small sombrero.

In a large bowl, combine the spices and store in an airtight container.

Attach this to the Jar:

Mexican Fiesta Dip
Makes 2 cups

In a medium mixing bowl combine the Dip Mix with the mayonnaise and sour cream. Whisk the mixture until smooth. Refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours. Serve with tortilla chips or fresh vegetables.

A quick taco dip and making good use of leftovers. After we enjoy a meal of tacos, we usually have ingredients left over. Instead of putting all of them away in different containers to re-use for tacos, I got the idea of making a taco dip with them.

Layer your ingredients in a plastic container. We always have refried beans, taco meat, lettuce, tomatoes, olives and sour cream left over. It makes a great dip for the next day and uses up all the leftover ingredients for the tacos.

Ingredients

*not available all over, I've had to search to find it

Directions

Brown the ground beef; add taco seasoning and salsa, cook until warm.

In an oven safe dish, spread the cream cheese along the bottom of the pan. Add the ground beef mixture over the cream cheese layer. Slice the Velveeta to completely cover the ground beef.

Cover with foil and bake in a 350 degree F oven for about 30 minutes, or until cheese becomes bubbly. Remove foil cover and bake another 15 minutes, until cheese is completely melted.

Remove from oven and allow to cool 15 minutes before serving.

We sometimes make this dish for dinner or as a great party appetizer! Enjoy!
