Tips for Boarding Pets

December 20, 2006

puppy sleeping with slipperMany of us go away for the holidays and have to board our pets. For dogs and cats, I suggest bringing along something you have had on your body. Not washed, you want your scent on the article. My dog always takes a sneaker into her bed if I go out, so when I board her, I will send along an old sneaker and a blanket I have had near me or wear an old shirt for a day before I go away. She will feel safe with a familiar smell.

That is an excellent idea! Sending my dog to stay at my daughter's when I am out of town makes her go crazy after a couple to days. I am definitely bringing a shirt next time to keep next to her bed.
