Turkey Burgers with Sweet Potatoes

Silver Post Medal for All Time! 293 Posts

A plate of turkey burgers with sweet potatoes on the side.My Mom hates to cook. I'm not sure why, she's actually very good at it. This is one thing I remember her making quite often, it's a great stand-by for my family now too. There are never any leftovers!

Using only ground turkey and Italian dressing, you will have a tasty, savory burger with no bun needed! Paired with easy and delicious steamed sweet potatoes, you'll have a healthy meal ready to enjoy.

Total Time: About 45 minutes, start to finish.

Yield: About 7 small burgers.

Steps:

  1. Place your turkey in a large bowl

Tip: If you purchase the frozen rolls of ground turkey and defrost beforehand, it is much more cost effective than purchasing in the trays from the fridge case.

  7. Using 1/3 cup measure, place your mounds on a medium heated surface, flatten slightly. I prefer an electric griddle.

  9. Cook on each side for about 5 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked thoroughly. Because of the dressing, these will crumble easily, be careful.

  11. Place a slice or 2 of cheddar cheese on top of your burgers and keep covered until ready to serve.

  13. For your potatoes, peel and quarter as many sweet potatoes as desired. Place in a large pot with a small amount of water and a steaming basket. This way you will preserve more vitamins. Steam for about 10-15 minutes, or until tender. Serve with butter or margarine and brown sugar.
