Twice a Year Changes

Silver Post Medal for All Time! 255 Posts

Everyone knows that you should change the batteries in your smoke detectors twice a year, at the Daylight Saving time change. It's also good to look for other changes to do as well, those that can "add change" to your bank account.

  • Twice a year, I call the cell company and cable/dish to see if we can get a better deal.

  • Twice a year, I compare auto insurance prices.

  • Twice a year, I shop for better home owners coverage.

So far this year, I have lowered our cell bill by $40 per month, our Dish by $10 a month and our auto insurance by $40 per month. This is a big reduction since one child moved out, married and has her own policy so is no longer considered as a driver in our household. Today, we found a homeowners policy that will save us $1200 per year!

One tip: Before you shop for insurance changes, be aware the the insurance companies do credit checks first. That is part of your rating. So, look it over from a free source, such as creditkarma first, to ensure it is accurate.
