U-Haul for Emergency Car Rental

We recently needed a rental car while our car was in the shop. I checked the online deals and they were all very high, perhaps because it is summer or perhaps our locale. I remembered that U-Haul advertises $29.95/day rentals. This does not include mileage, so be sure you will not be driving many miles.

Your best choices are a large van or a large pickup truck. They are not the easiest to drive, but our total was way less than the bargain car rentals. Also you do not need a large credit card deposit, only the estimate of the actual cost.

Unfortunately we have found up here in Canada that a rental car company charges a $300 deposit on all their vehicles. Yes free mileage throughout our entire province but the initial deposit hurts small pockets. So I am with you on the U-Haul rental.

Normally I have been able to get better deals than the U-Haul, but not this time. Thanks for your feedback.

Not a bad idea if you can't find a less expensive rental car but did you check Budget-Rent-A-Car when you were searching online? You can get a compact for as low as $17.00 or a small SUV for $22.00 and there are Budget locations for pick-up and delivery just about everywhere and especially in Reno where there are three.
