Using Measuring Cups Sensibly

Gold Post Medal for All Time! 523 Posts

I have a set of black, heavy plastic measuring cups. I'd like another set, but there's no name on them and I can't remember where I got them. I guess the next best thing is a set of red, heavy plastic measuring cups. My sister gave me a set. They're Betty Crocker and sold at Dollar tree for a dollar. Most anyone can have all the measuring cups they'd ever need.

All the cups I use to measure dry ingredients are not organized neatly on a cabinet shelf, where they take up room until they're used, washed and returned to the shelf.

When mixing Kool Aid, I use 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup sucralose. When I open the sugar container, there's a 1/2 measuring cup inside. When I open the bag of sucralose, there's a 1/2 measuring cup inside.

When making biscuits for one, I use 1 cup flour. So, there's always a 1 cup measuring cup inside my flour container. Cornmeal hoecakes for one, 1/3 cup in the cornmeal container, same with rice and oatmeal.

Just think of the time and energy saved by having the measuring cup where you're going to use it. What with the same ingredient always in the same cup, I don't wash these cups after each use, rather, just when I wash and refill the container.

Treat yourself with two or three more sets of measuring cups. Stop storing, retrieving, using, washing, organizing and storing again. Just use, Y'all!

I believe there are many TF members who read and use tips like this but rarely comment or vote.
It really is a useful tip, so, give yourself another pat on the back.
