Using Unsalted Butter?

Why do so many recipes call for unsalted butter then add butter into the recipe or batter. I can usually find salted butter much cheaper than unsalted?

Often there is already an ingredient in the recipe that contains salt, and they don't want more salt into it. I always use unsalted butter. Our stores carry it right beside the salted, and at the same price.

If you have salted butter, it may make the dish too salty. I prefer unsalted butter myself.
