I was at a friends house for a party. She had filled her washer full of cold water and ice to hold the drinks in. I thought it was a great idea.

When you have a party or get together, put your washing machine to work. Fill it a quarter full with cold water. Add a bag of ice and lots of cold drinks. Do this early in the day. The drinks stay cold for hours.
