| Caring For Cut Flowers
|
|
Did you get some cut flowers? Here's a little prep work you can do to make them last longer. Using pruning sheers, make a fresh cut at the bottom of the stem. Do this under running water. Don't use scissors for this, they will crush the stems and make it harder for them them to absorb water.

| Tissue Paper Flowers
|
This is a decoration I made for a Valentine's Day party this year. The vase is made from a drinkable yogurt container. I hot glued on a red ribbon around the middle and hot glued on a bow. I painted the top to give it a little more color.

The internet is a great resource for information. But when ordering flowers, you should be aware that things are not always as they seem. More and more, "order gatherers" have built websites to entice you to purchase your flowers through them. Some of them even buy ads in your local yellow pages. These companies often work in a call center, far removed from the recipient of your flower gift. Oddly enough, they call your order out to a local florist after retaining a portion of your money!
