As a general rule - restoring furniture lowers the value of the item. Mersman end tables are many times listed in the hundreds - all style and condition. Usually items like this are slow sellers and many times the same table will be listed for months or even years (yes, sellers do list items like this for years and still may not sell them). Mersman numbers do not mean very much as there is no list of Mersman items showing what number 8086 really is. Many times you will see different tables showing the same number. Also, the type of wood is many times different - is it mahogany or is it walnut?

I agree with the info above. When you refinish any older furniture the price drops to rock bottom yard sale pricing.
