Supplies:

Steps:

  1. Fold the bottom of the washcloth up 4 inches. Pin in place and sew along both sides. I recommend back stitching for added strength, then trim off excess thread.
  2. Washcloth Travel Toothbrush Holder - fold up 4 inches of cloth and stitch ends

  3. Place the toothpaste inside and pin next to it to create a pocket for it.
  4. Washcloth Travel Toothbrush Holder - place tube inside to size for pocket

  5. Sew the pocket, securing with backstitching.
  6. Washcloth Travel Toothbrush Holder - sew pocket and backstitch

  7. Check fit the toothpaste and add a toothbrush. Place a pin to create a pocket. Remove the toothbrush and measure it so that you know how big each toothbrush pocket will be. Mine was 1 1/2 inches. Sew the pocket, with backstitching.
  8. Washcloth Travel Toothbrush Holder - measure and pin for toothbrush pocket size

  9. Sew all of the other toothbrush pockets. I was able to make 4 (1 1/2 inch pockets) and the last part I split evenly, which made slightly smaller pockets, but I intend to use them for flossers.
  10. Washcloth Travel Toothbrush Holder - sewn pockets with two narrower ones for flossers

  11. Cut a piece of ribbon, 24 inches long. Use a lighter to carefully melt the ends, to prevent fraying. Fold the ribbon in half and pin it just above the pockets. Sew it in place (see photo below).
  12. Washcloth Travel Toothbrush Holder - cut narrow ribbon for tie and fold in half pin above the pockets

  13. Fill the holder with toothpaste and brushes, roll it up, and secure it with the ribbon. Note: You can place the toothbrushes in bristle end down if you want, which would work well if they are slightly damp when you are packing them. Washing it after each trip will help cut down on germs too.
  14. Washcloth Travel Toothbrush Holder - paste and brushes inside the holder

I don't think I want my tooth brush in such close contact with other toothbrushes. Very unsanitary.

You could always turn them head-end down. Although they don't really touch when rolled up anyway. For me germs aren't much of a concern since its shared with my husband and children.

Another option would be to make one for each person.

If I had my children with me on a trip I am not worried about Germs. I'd be More concerned with artificial Nails when a brush is used by 30 ppl in a day is only in a Germ Bath of Germacide.

Used after the items go in to an Autoclave! Same Nail files Not sanitary Not for Me! Licensed Cosmetologist and CNA.
