What are your thoughts on sending invitations to the wedding party/guests that will be invited to the rehearsal dinner of a formal wedding? Is a verbal invitation enough, or do formal ones need to be sent out?

Don't bother buying printed invitations, when you can do just as well at home on your computer! You can get plain/colored paper or special invitation packages at the large office supply stores.
Because our wedding had a short lead time, we sent out "save the date" emails through eVite. Much easier than phoning - and cheaper for relatives all across the country...
