I raised AKC Boxers in the US 40+years, my cousin raised American Staffordshire Terriers, and we both did breed rescue - it looks to me as though you may have a Boxer-Staffie-?. Small for the two breeds and there just looks to be another '?' in there somewhere (possibly making him smaller).
My goodness he's been through it, bless you for rescuing and rehoming him - it looks as though you're providing him with some serious love and vet care and considering the depth of his injuries he looks like a sweetie.
