What Breed is My Dog?

We rescued a beautiful white puppy 10 months ago. He has brown liver spots on his skin and brown spots in his white fur. He also has black spots on his nose, belly, and inside his mouth. His fur is short to medium. The brown spots on his ears were very prominent when we first got him, as he's gotten older more brown spots are appearing more clearly in his fur.

We don't know what kind of dog he is. He is very friendly and loving, very protective, yet gentle. We believe he is white Shepherd, but are not sure what he is mixed with. Some say Dalmatian.

He loves to chase chickens, birds, and our cat. He loves to gnaw on our hands and arms. He is happy natured. He doesn't bark or start fights with other animals. He is happy, playful and has a mind of his own. He can zone himself completely out as if he's on another planet when he's outside. He has a great sense of smell. His nose is always to the ground or in the air. He is very protective and does bark if someone is within 1000 feet of our house.
His front chest has a large pointed breast bone, his tail is long. His legs are medium to long. He has brown eyes.
Can anyone tell us what breed our dog is?

Hi Pamela - I was looking at the "Lonely Questions" to see if I could answer any, and I think your dog may be mixed partially with American Pit Bull Terrier. I first thought of "Staffordshire Terrier" and looked at the Wikipedia articles. There's a picture of a fawn & white APBT that looks a lot like your dog, although your dog's ears stand up and this one's don't. The spots that are coming out do sound like there's some Dalmatian in there, too. He may be a mix of several breeds. In any case, he's a handsome dog, and sounds like a terrific pet. I'm glad he's appreciated and has a loving home. Enjoy him and good luck with him! Below is the link to the Wikipedia article for the APBT.

It looks like there could be some Australian Cattle dog in there. I've had Red Healers for years. the face looks the same. It would explain the ears too. There is Dalmation mixed in to create a Cattle Dog.
