What Breed is My Dog?

We got him from a shelter and was told he was a Pointer blend. He has freckles like a Pointer does, but his ears are always up and don't sit flat on the side like Pointers do when they're relaxed. Sometimes when he's excited they'll stick straight up in the air with no bend whatsoever.

The first 2 photos were of him when he was a bit younger and his ears were a lot floppier. I haven't got a photo of them standing right up, sorry. Please help us identify the breed. We love him as is, just curious.
