What Is This Houseplant?

What Is This Houseplant? - tall supported plant with dark green leavesWe cut a small branch from a friend's and potted this plant more than 10 years ago. It keeps growing, but it never has flowers. It is supposed to have clusters of tiny flowers that are supposed to have a very strong smell. It does have a cluster of brown flower buds as shown in photos, but they do not turn into flowers.

Some called it "diamond flowers plant". It needs sticks to support it upright, or it falls down. It does not have a thick stem to support the whole plant, has only thin branches. A web site look up does not match the image. What is the proper name for this plant? Thanks.

This looks a lot like a camellia to me, especially the fact that it's flowering. Maybe you can plant it in your yard and it will become a tree!

But camellias require extensive care, though.

I believe you have a Confederate Jasmine.
The reason it has no real stem is because it is a vine. There are several types of jasmine but yours should have small white, very fragrant flowers.
This plant is generally grown outdoors but can be grown indoors also. It is possible there is not enough light/sunshine for it to bloom.
Indoors, Confederate jasmine grows best in bright indirect or curtain-filtered sunlight except in winter, when they need at least four hours of direct sunlight a day.

Night temperatures of 50 to 55 °F and day temperatures of 68 to 72 °F are ideal.

Thanks for pointing out it is a vine. I did a search on "thick leave vine", and bingo, my plant finally has a name after 10 years, it is called Hoya Carnosa, the flowers match the friend's, who doesn't know what the name of his plant. Thank you.

I also think it is jasmine. It may required more sun and pollen to bloom. Normally jasmine is an outdoor plant.

It probably is a star Jasmine (or Confederate Jasmine).
It generally is grown outdoors because it requires full sun and shelter.
And because it is a climbing plant.

I am glad you found the correct name as the leaves (without a flower) certainly look just like my Jasmine.
I was curious after you gave the name and come up with this site:
