What Is This Plant?

What Is This Plant?I need to know the name of these plants. I know the one is called purple something. However, the one I'm more concerned about is the one in the hanging basket that looks as if it's covered in fuzz.

The top (purple photo) is a purple wandering jew. I cannot see the second picture clear enough to be certain of its type. Take it to your local florist or plant center and tey would probably be able to tell you right away.

Hello !
The two plants are members of the Tradescantia family. The hairy one is Tradescantia sillamontana, the purple one is Setcreasea pallida. They tend to drop leaves while their branches grow longer. This is a natural phenomena as they are crawling plants. To lessen the fall of leaves, you have to pinch the branches. All the Tradescantia family needs a lot of light, warmth and moist to grow well and keep their colours bright. Every two or three years you should start a new plant from cuttings of the old one as they end up having very long branches with only a few leaves left at the top.

Tradescantia sillamontana is native to Montana and north-eastern Mexico it is the one Tradescantia, that needs the most sunlight and even direct sun. Setcreasea pallida is native to Texas and New Mexico. My personnal tip for these beautiful easy to grow plants : let the soil dry between two waterings and soak them always using room temperature water if not lukewarm. Indoors they like being fog regularly with lukewarm water too.
Hope this helps !
Catherine
