What Kind of Snakes are These?

I found about 5 so far, coiled up, but know they are a little aggressive. They are about 6 - 12 inches long.

They look like copperheads which are poisonous. If bitten, you would need to seek medical attention immediately.

They also look like they could be baby corn snakes; it is sometimes hard to discern the two kinds without experience. You can also tell more from the head; which is hard to see in the photos. Ask an expert in your area--you want to know what kind of snakes you have hanging around, and if you need to be cautious of them.

Corn snakes are good to have around, but you don't want copperheads close to your home.

You have found two venomous baby copperhead snakes. Now that you know they're around, you'll need to be very careful while out and about.

If you don't personally know 100% what kind of snake your dealing with, DON'T pick it up, getting an ID on line by a picture is not ID'ing it 100%. There are a lot of snake that look a like, it's part of their protection system. There are so many variable to Id'ing a snake, where your from etc... Be safe rather then sorry, don't pick up that snake, don't try to trap it, don't try to kill it.

Call 911 and keep an eye on it if your in a state where you have dangerous species....and if you have children in the area. Get the experts to come and get the snake. Learn about the animals in your area, don't you watch those TV shows? Where man chops snakes head off and gets bit ends up in ICU fighting for his life!

Call 911? NO. As a Medic/FF/Police family... please do not call 911 unless there is an actual emergency. ID the snake and handle it appropriately.
