What is This Tree?

I got the seed for this tree from the Chula Vista Marina Park about 18 years ago; please let me know the name of this tree. It looks nice from afar with its white flowers at this time, but don't touch its branches, it makes you feel so itchy!

I can't be totally certain, but it looks like a magnolia. The flowers should be very large and white. And the pods get very dark after bloom. Also the leaves are about six to eight inches long and are very sturdy.
